Airborne mapping efforts of the active Deepwater Horizon oil slickFriday May 07, 2010

ITRES salutes the various government and private groups actively using our mapping imagers during continuing operations over the Gulf of Mexico. We certainly wish that this work wasn't necessary. But as the impacts from this growing environmental disaster mount as the slick makes landfall, we hope that the collected data will help towards regional efforts being directed to monitor the extent and effects of the oil on the Gulf's sensitive wetlands and coastal areas.

Past operations in the Gulf area conducted by our clients or ITRES using hyperspectral imaging have focused on identification and coverage of submerged, emergent, and riparian wetland vegetation communities, the very same that are currently threatened by this evolving environmental disaster.
