Why ITRES

ITRES Reseach We are a respected, energetic, and innovative technology company with over 25 years of experience in our field - which is designing and building the world's best spectral and hyperspectral imaging sensors.

We are headquartered in the beautiful foothills of the Canadian Rockies in Calgary, Alberta. Our 12,000+ square foot facility provides a home for our activities in optical, electronic, and mechanical design, sensor calibration, hyperspectral image analysis, map and derived product generation, and software development. We also have a U.S. satellite office located in Kiln, Mississippi, near the Stennis Space Center.

ITRES’ scientific strength and ingenuity is the keystone that supports both our instrument development and applications activities. Based on solid scientific first principles, this knowledgebase supports the company’s three complementary business areas:

ITRES Business Area 1:

Technology Development (Product Innovation Group)

  • Airborne Digital Imaging Technology and Algorithm Development
  • Custom Design and Fabrication of Optical Lens Assemblies
  • Innovative Algorithm Development For UXO and Landmine Detection
  • Application Algorithm Development (i.e. used in automated tree stemdetection for tree counts and spacing, vegetation species classification, wetlands mapping)

ITRES Business Area 2:

Sensor Systems (Instrument Group)

ITRES designs, manufactures, and provide customer support for a suite of commercial airborne hyperspectral mapping sensors:

  • CASI-550 (Compact Airborne Spectrographic Imager, VNIR technology)
  • CASI-1500 (Wide array CASI)
  • SASI 600 (Shortwave IR Airborne Spectrographic Imager, 160 Channels)
  • TABI-320 (Thermal Airborne Broadband Imager, TIR technology)
  • TASI-600 (Thermal Airborne Spectrographic Imager, TIR technology)

Our Instrument Design Group carries out all aspects of electronic and mechanical design and fabrication that bring these sensors from the design board to worldwide commercial use.

ITRES Business Area 3:

Operations and Applications Group

The Operation and Applications Group has skilled commercial airborne mapping project expertise. This extends from product design to worldwide large-scale airborne/ground data acquisition, on-site data processing, and production-level analysis. The functions and capabilities of this group include:

  • Carrying out world-wide, large scale airborne hyperspectral imaging/mapping programs
  • Analysis algorithm development
  • Full mission, field mobilization, and logistical planning capability
  • Field truthing and ground measurements (pre-mission, coincident, or post-mission)
  • Data radiometric/geometric corrections
  • Hyperspectral image orthocorrections using LIDAR / IFSAR DEMs
  • Atmospheric Corrections
  • Multiple sensor/data fusion
  • Image interpretation, hyperspectral analysis
  • GIS mapping and product generation
